"The purification from the material and attracting of the spiritual is man's mission in this world."
The Lord‘s Sermons 18
I showed you what to do
Lord:) "But this is the very reason why I Myself have come to this
earth which is destined to be the birthplace of My true children;
namely, to free you from the fetters of the compulsion of created
beings and to show you the way to the true,
(The Lord:) "But this is the very reason why I Myself have come to this earth which is destined to be the birthplace of My true children; namely, to free you from the fetters of the compulsion of created beings and to show you the way to the true, independent freedom of eternal life by word and deed and prepare and smooth it by My shining example.
It will only in this way be possible to enter into the immeasurable glory of God Who is My and your Father.
For as man I am a man like you, but within Me dwells in its supreme fullness the divine glory of the Father, Who in Himself is pure love. And it is not I as your fellowman who is telling you this, but the word which I am saying to you is the word of the Father, Who is within Me and Whom I certainly know well, but you do not; because if you knew Him, My mission would be futile. But just because you do not know Him and have never known Him, I Myself have come to show Him to you and to teach you to recognize Him.
This, however, is the will of the Father, that all who believe in Me, the Son of Man, that I have been sent by the Father, shall have eternal life and the glory of the Father within them in order to become - and remain forever - true children of the Most High.
To achieve that, heaven and hell must in this world be housed under one roof. No victory without a conflict! Where it is possible to achieve the highest, the highest activity must be entered into because of it; to achieve one extreme, one must first extricate oneself from the opposite extreme.
How could any highest extreme be thinkable without a lowest? Or can anyone among you imagine mountains without valleys in between? Are not the heights of the mountains measured from the lowest area of a valley? There must, therefore, be very deep valleys and whoever lives in the depth of the valley must under much difficulty climb up to the top of the mountain to have the freest and most far-reaching view. But without valleys there would be no mountains, and nobody could climb to a height with a better than ordinary view.
Of course, this is only a material metaphor, but it nevertheless contains what is similar and corresponding in the immeasurably great, spiritual reality. And for him who can and will think it will become ever more significant.
You are called and chosen to achieve the highest in the sphere of inner life. Therefore, there must be a basest beneath you, and you possess the completely free will and the power with which to fight the basest within you thanks to the power given you forever by God as your own.
You see, My dear friend Cornelius, that matters and conditions in this world are as they must be. And I hope that you will hardly come up with yet another question about this.
I could in spirit lead you onto another globe where you would find everything in a perfection similar to the inimitable perfection of the work of animals; but what use is to them the perfection that is forever repeating itself? It only meets the requirements of their very poor and monotonous life, but you find nothing exceeding it by a hair‘s breadth.
Could children of God be possibly raised under such conditions?
Within you human beings lies the infinite, but it is undeveloped. This is why the newborn child can do nothing and is far below the newborn animal of any species.
But precisely because it is so very naked, weak and totally helpless and, rather more like a polyp of the sea, almost without consciousness, like a completely empty vessel, it can climb to the highest divine consciousness and expect to reach highest perfection.
Pay, therefore, good attention to everything I have told you now and act accordingly, and you will without fail reach that for which you have all been called and chosen for time and eternity. - Tell Me, friend Cornelius, what you now think of this earth and its people in the light and darkness within you."
