  Jesus and the Jews
 The degenerated Temple

The Lord tells us the state which the Temple was in by the time Jesus had come.

Most priests, pharisees and doctors of the Law
  • had lost the belief in God
  • had lost belief in the divine origin of the Sciptures and therefore
  • had little knowledge of the Old Testament (books of Moses and the Prophets) and thus
  • did not recognize the Messiah in Jesus,
  • had desecrated the Temple with murder, greed and lies.
Besides what we learn from the work "Childhood of Jesus", we gather from "Three days in the Temple" the situation of the Temple and its representatives at the time Jesus was 12 years old.

Jesus as a boy in the Temple:
"Behold, you also read in the Scriptures, but to your mind there is nothing divine in them. You believe they are only the work of several men put together in cooperation so as to rule their fellow men more easily...

"Therefore, such men who lack higher spiritual faith should not read and thereby desecrate the Scriptures given to man out of the Spirit of God, for it is written: ‘Thou shalt not use the Name of the Lord [Jehovah] in vain.`

‘Thereupon, I added these words: "Every word out of the Spirit of God is equal to the name ‘Jehovah.‘ Whoever reads It as a human work becomes a punishable vain-namer of the name Jehovah. But he who reads It with great reverence in his heart, believing that It is of Divine Origin, will soon and easily find in It the Divine for the awakening and vitalizing of his spirit.

"If any one of you would believe within yourself that the Scriptures are of Divine Origin, you would long ago have recognized Me for what I really am and how I bring about My miracles. But, because you believe the Scriptures to be only a human production and completely useless at this time, it is also impossible for you to acknowledge Me as Who I really am. Since you do not wish to acknowledge Me as Such, surely My deeds must also be completely incomprehensible to you."

And then the boy Jesus speaking to the Roman judge under who‘s protection He spends the three days in the temple:

"You are a heathen but still recognize Me. These are Jews (who should be children of Jehovah), but they do not recognize Me, and will hardly ever do so. Now, what do you think of that? It seems to Me, as a prophet once said and, even then, to deaf ears: ‘He came unto His own, but they did not recognize or accept Him!‘ Let that be as it may, I have now shown you the right state of things, and it is time to look more closely at those texts found by the chief priest which are said not to fit Me."
